［GOOD DESIGN Marunouchi Linked Project] Sansui-go Design 3

GOOD DESIGN Marunouchi has been distributing the program "Sansuisato Channel" since 2020.

Creators working in design in various regions of Japan are invited as guests to introduce their way of life and activities rooted in the local lifestyle and culture.

The "Design in Sansuisougo" exhibition invites the creators who have appeared so far to express themselves three-dimensionally through their eyes, thoughts, and words.

GOOD DESIGN STORE TOKYO by NOHARA Marunouchi, in conjunction with the above exhibition, which is now in its third year with the subtitle "How to cultivate and convey local values," will sell items designed and transmitted by each of the three groups from the local culture and climate.

From Local to Global: Editing Local Culture and Connecting it to the World

With an office and store in Tarumi, Kobe, Horiuchi is involved in a wide range of design activities from production to branding. 2011 saw the launch of "Hyogo craft" to introduce Hyogo's craftsmanship, providing consistent support for product development, distribution support, and overseas expansion. In recent years, he has been supporting craftsmanship not only in Hyogo Prefecture but also throughout Japan, and is also involved in self-initiated projects that create new value by connecting people, products, and things.

Survive Utopia, Wife

IKAHATCHIN Productions was formed by eight women of different occupations and tastes who moved to Nagahama City (formerly Ika County) in Shiga Prefecture, attracted by the city. They publish the magazine "Survive Utopia" under the theme of "living (surviving) in the countryside (utopia). In this exhibition, some of the contents of "Survive Utopia" and their latest publication "Wife" will be exhibited. The "wives," who are not considered migrants, are introduced with respect for what they have inherited from generation to generation in the community.

Screaming to the Soil

Editor：Toshimitsu Yoshino (Yoshino Toshimitsu Design Office)

After working as a graphic designer and managing a company in Tokyo, Toshimitsu Yoshino returned to his hometown of Shinjo, Yamagata Prefecture, and established Yoshino Toshimitsu Design Office. He has been involved in projects utilizing local resources, such as a marché selling locally grown agricultural products, production and publication of a quarterly magazine for the Shinjo and Mogami regions of Yamagata Prefecture, and management of a project to redesign and support sales channels for Yamagata Prefecture's crafts. In the exhibition, he shouts out the "richness" cultivated in the history and climate of this region through the people he met after returning home, the things he made together, and the projects he is working on.
