MONPE" is a project to transform the "monpe", which was popular as farm work clothes, to fit the modern age while taking advantage of its comfort and workability. The project began with the use of Kurume Kasuri from Fukuoka Prefecture, and has now spread to textiles from many regions.

Collaboration of Shinohara Textile and Eel Bed

Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, once a production center of Bingo kasuri, has developed into one of the leading denim fabric production centers in Japan by mastering rope dyeing, backed by indigo dyeing and cotton weaving techniques. Shinohara Textile has been producing original denim fabrics worldwide for 110 years since its first production of kasuri woven fabrics.

Soft and durable stretch denim

The warp yarn is dyed by rope dyeing (a technique in which only the surface of the roped yarn is dyed with indigo), and the weft yarn is unbleached yarn woven into a twill weave. Shinohara Textile's typical stretchy denim fabric containing Tencel yarn is used.

Japanese Jeans "MONPE

The "monpe," which took root after World War II as farm work clothes, was a loose-fitting silhouette with a large buttock area. Eel Bedding developed this product in response to requests from local people who wanted to make monpe using fabrics from antiques and kimono that they had left in their wardrobes. While saving cloth, the monpe was designed to be simple, taking advantage of its width of about 36 cm (kimono length), and as a result, a slim "monpe" was born with the functionality of a monpe intact. This is the standard MONPE of today.
