KOFU, Nanbu SAKIORI / Business card case
SAKIORI is a traditional textile produced in the Nanbu region of Aomori Prefecture, where used cloth is torn into thin strips, woven into fabrics, and then reused as clothing and household items. The patterns and color compositions of these items have been reborn as products with a modern design.
Nanbu SAKIORI:
SAKIORI, woven with cotton threads for the warp and old cloth for the weft, is durable and warm, and becomes soft after repeated use. In the Edo period (1603-1867), it was difficult to grow and obtain cotton in the Nanbu region (eastern part of Aomori Prefecture) due to the cold climate, In the Edo period (1603-1867), when the cold climate made it difficult to grow and obtain cotton, women in the Nanbu region (eastern Aomori Prefecture) wove kotatsu quilts, work clothes, obis, etc., from the cloth they carefully used.
Old cloth:
Old fabrics such as big fishing flags, yukata (summer kimonos), old futons, and lining fabrics of tanzen (traditional Japanese kimono) are used.
The soft, warm texture and practicality make it a good gift for men and women of all ages.
