Honey arare, floating star / Hickory Three Travelers
Hickory Three Travelers" has a store in Niigata City's Kamikomachi shopping district, where they select and develop products with local connections. The floating star is a traditional Niigata confectionery that has been around for 115 years. It is made by sprinkling honey over the central arare.
What is hickory03travelers?
Let's enjoy everyday life. The hickory03travelers are a group of people who create various things based on the concept of "enjoying everyday life.
We have a store and workshop (1 minute walk from the store) on the Kamikomachi shopping street, which has a nostalgic atmosphere, and we design and produce mainly T-shirts and miscellaneous goods.
The store is housed in an 80-year-old two-story wooden building (formerly a liquor store), and the first and second floors have completely different looks. The store's lineup includes original hand-printed silk-screened products, Niigata-style souvenirs, and a selection of products that make everyday life more enjoyable. Disabled There are also many products made at welfare facilities and products made in collaboration with Niigata's long-established stores, traditional crafts, and stores in the shopping arcade.
What is Ukihoshi?
Ukihoshi" is a sweet snack made of glutinous rice (arare) and sugar syrup. At first glance, it may look like a kampeitou, but it is not. Since it is made of arare, it has a simple taste with a moderate sweetness. In Niigata City, there is only one "Meidi-ya" (established in 1899) that makes these sweets, and they are very precious. It used to be a famous confectionary loved by Niigata citizens under the name of "Yukari," but in recent years, its sales space has been shrinking.
■It can be eaten as it is, added to tea or hot water, or as a topping for ice cream or sweets.
