What is the Tsubame-Sanjo Workshop Festival?

A factory tour event that has been held since 2013, allowing visitors to experience the manufacturing sites of Tsubame-Sanjo's metalworking and other businesses as they are. It is a joint effort by the public and private sectors to improve various problems such as the lack of successors to craftspeople and the closure of businesses, and to pass on the fire of Tsubame-Sanjo's manufacturing tradition to the next generation.

■Malt Hasegawa Workshop:

Founded in 1924, Maruto Hasegawa Kosakusho has grown up in the tradition of local blacksmithing. Sanjo City in Niigata Prefecture has been a major production center of metal products in Japan since the Edo period. Its cutlery, in particular, is known for its high quality and is now recognized overseas as the "Sanjo Japan Brand. This tradition of cutlery manufacturing has been passed down through the generations at Maruto Hasegawa.
