Utsuroi cup/M/asada
Utsuroi cups are produced by combining Yamanaka's traditional techniques of Hikimono rokuro (ground pottery) and wipe lacquer, which accentuates the grain of the wood, with modern metallic painting techniques. The name "Utsuroi" was chosen to express the changing seasons and new traditional forms.

There are three major lacquerware production centers in Ishikawa Prefecture: Yamanaka for the wood, Wajima for the lacquering, and Kanazawa for the maki-e lacquerware. Yamanaka excels at making wooden bases using the rokuro technique and has made bowls, trays, and other items.
Utilizing Yamanaka's skills in wheel turning and lacquering, this thinly ground cup is finished with a metallic coating on the outside, using the colors of Ishikawa's four seasons as a motif.
