Kurume Kasuri, Cheers! Polka Dot Pattern with the Image of Bubbles

The polka-dot pattern represents the bubbles that everyone enjoys with a "Cheers! and enjoy the bubbles together. The polka-dot pattern is a classic Kurume-gasuri pattern, but the technique of dyeing colors in different shades of the same color is utilized to give it a pop.

Two characteristics of Kurume Kasuri

1. the texture of the fabric

Because we use an old-fashioned shuttle loom that is over 60 years old, the weaving speed is slower than modern looms, but the slower weaving means that the threads are not overloaded and the fabric is soft and textured.

2. How to Create Patterns and Patterns

The various patterns and designs of Kurume Kasuri are not printed, but created by dyeing each thread individually before weaving. The pattern is expressed by aligning and shifting the dyed and undyed portions of the threads.

Depending on whether the warp threads are dyed separately, the weft threads are dyed separately, or yarn-dyed single-color threads are used, various types of patterns and patterns are created, including plain, stripe, check, tate-kasuri, yoko-kasuri, tate-yoko-kasuri, knit-dye, and bunjin-kasuri. Although machines are used for "kumikuri," "dyeing," and "weaving," they are old-fashioned machines and require human hands. This human intervention is one of the interesting and tasteful aspects of Kurume-gasuri.

Japanese Jeans "MONPE

The "monpe" was established after World War II as farm work clothes, and its shape was large around the hips and had a loose silhouette. Eel Bedding developed this product in response to requests from local people who wanted to make a monpe from fabrics they had unwrapped from antiques and kimonos that had been left to accumulate in their wardrobes. While saving cloth, the monpe was designed to be simple, taking advantage of its width of about 36 cm (kimono length), and as a result, a slim "monpe" was born with the functionality of a monpe intact. This is the standard MONPE of today.
