Meiboku Bowl / Sakura / Suri Urushi / SONOBE
The more you use this bowl, the more you get used to it.
The bowls are finished using the urushi technique, which emphasizes the texture of the material (the process of applying raw lacquer to the wood, wiping it off, and drying it in a cellar is repeated many times), so the color and texture will become more familiar and stronger with daily use.
For everyday use. Long-lasting practicality.
This bowl is made of Japanese cherry wood and is solid and has little distortion. The rounded shape and smooth feel of the bowls allow you to feel the softness of the wood when you put your mouth on them.
The bowls are made of the same wood, but are uniquely yours. The same wood can be used to make your own unique bowls.
Even if they are made of the same cherry wood, the grain and weight of the scraped bowls are all different. The more you use the lacquer, the more the color changes little by little, and you can enjoy growing your own unique bowl.
SONOBE-SONOBE SANGYO
Odawara has been a lacquerware production area since the Muromachi period. Odawara is designated as a traditional craft for its techniques such as rokuro-hiki (turning on a wheel) and urushi lacquer coating, which take advantage of the beauty of the natural grain of the Hakone mountain range. In order to pass on Odawara's woodworking to the next generation, Sonobe Sangyo uses a variety of domestic and foreign woods, and its young craftsmen consider everything from tool making to design and usability, pouring all of their inherited skills into the creation of their products.
