Kyutarou Blue is a blue and wooden tableware created byseeking a way to convey at the same time "the charm of wooden base" and "the charm of lacquered ware", and also to convey the charm of blue tableware, which had been considered taboo. The name of the founder,Kyutaro Somei, the first generation, was incorporated into the company's name.The company aims to create a link between the old and the new.
About the blue color
The blue part is painted translucently, which creates a gradation of the wood grain. The same product can be finished in a variety of unique colors depending on the season and the color of the wood at the time. Please enjoy your own unique blue color.
About paints
Urethane tableware paint is a durable and safe paint that is easy to care for and handle, with almost no deterioration over time. It is sprayed on each natural wood vessel one by one by craftsmen.
Texture and thermal insulation
The surface coating is matte and smooth to the touch. The wooden base is all natural wood and is light to the touch with the warmth of wood. Wood isinsulating and resistant to heat and cold, so it can be used all year round.
Durable and easy to clean
One of the advantages of wooden tableware is that it is hard to break even if dropped. Wooden tableware is also recommended for small children. The urethane coating on the tableware causes almost no color degradation, and it can be washed in the same way as other tableware with a mild detergent, so there is no need to take special care of it.
*About dents and uneven grain
Wooden pieces that arrive in white wood are firstremoved if they have strong dents or if the wood grain is not very beautiful.When we finish inspecting the wood, we will have about half of them, but if we inspect more strictly thannow, it will be difficult for us to deliver at the current price.We hope that you will enjoy the slight dents and unevenness in color as a characteristic of natural wood.
Soumei Lacquerware has been operating as a lacquerware store since 1923 in Kawada-cho, Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, an Echizen lacquerware production area with a history of about 1,500 years.We are the first lacquerware store in the industry to adopt plastic, and have also taken on new challenges.
■"RENEW" is an event held in the Tannan area of Fukui Prefecture (Sabae City, Echizen City, Echizen Town) to open up the workshop with the aim of creating a sustainable community, and was awarded the Good Design Award in 2019.
