Katsuo Jima

The striped pattern called "Katsuo Jima" has been woven in the Kurume Kasuri production area for a long time. The unique stripes, like the gradation of the color of a bonito's belly, are a popular pattern that can be worn with a cool and stylish look.

All of our standard monpae (thick) are made of a knotted yarn called nep, which gives the fabric a puffy look. (*This is not a furball.)
Depending on how often they are worn and washed, after a few years the knots will be removed somewhat and settle down a bit.

Japanese Jeans "MONPE

The "monpe" was established after World War II as agricultural work clothes, and its shape was large around the hips and had a loose silhouette. Eel Bedding developed this product in response to requests from local residents who wanted to make monpe using fabrics from antiques and kimono that they had left in their wardrobes. While saving cloth, the monpe was designed to be simple, taking advantage of its width of about 36 cm (kimono length), and as a result, a slim "monpe" was born with the functionality of a monpe intact. This is the standard MONPE of today.
