Denim MONPE using steteco technology

MONPEisa collaboration with "steteco.com," which is working on the development of new comfortable and relaxing wear starting with "steteco.

Using the technology of steteco material (chijimi material technology), we wanted to create a denim that is cool and lightweight and comfortable to wear even in hot weather, and we have created a fabric that is also lighter, more breathable, and quick-drying compared to ordinary denim fabrics.

Comparison with ordinary denim fabric

1. Lightweight (about 1/3rd)
2. Breathable (about 7 times)
3. Stretchable despite being 100% cotton

In addition, the same rope-dyeing method used for denim yarns, in which only the outside of the yarn is dyed and the inside remains white without being dyed, allows the fabric to change over time in the same way as ordinary denim.

Takashima Chijimi

Takashima chijimi is a cotton fabric that has been woven in the Takashima area of Shiga Prefecture, northwest of Lake Biwa, since the Edo period (1603-1868).

The process of making Takashima chijima is largely divided into the following steps: "weaving the fabric with high-twisted yarn" → "molding the fabric with rollers and exposing it to hot water. This process gives Takashima chijimi its lightness and comfort.

Japanese Jeans "MONPE

The "monpe" was established after World War II as agricultural work clothes, and its shape was large around the hips and had a loose silhouette. Eel Bedding developed this product in response to requests from local people who wanted to make monpe using fabrics from antiques and kimono that they had left in their wardrobes. While saving cloth, the monpe was designed to be simple, taking advantage of its width of about 36 cm (kimono length), and as a result, a slim "monpe" was born with the functionality of a monpe intact. This is the standard MONPE of today.
