Kyutarou Blue is a blue and wooden tableware created byseeking a way to convey the "charm of wood base" and "charm of painted food" at the same time, and also to convey the charm of blue tableware, which had been considered taboo. Incorporating the name of the founder,Kyutaro Somyo, the first generation,aims to create a link between the old and the new.
We have two colors, dark blue "Standard (std)" and light blue "Sou".

◾️ About the blue color
The blue part is painted translucently, which creates a gradation of the wood grain. The same product can be finished in a variety of unique colors depending on the season and the color of the wood at the time. Enjoy your own unique blue.
◾️About the paint
Urethane tableware paint is a durable and safe paint that is easy to care for and handle, with almost no deterioration over time. It is applied to each natural wooden vessel by a craftsman using the technique of spraying.
◾️ Texture and Insulation
The surface coating is matte and smooth to the touch. The wood is all natural wood and light to the touch with the warmth of wood. Wood isinsulating and resistant to heat and cold, so it can be used all year round.
◾️ durable and easy to clean
Another advantage of wooden tableware is that it is hard to break even if dropped. This tableware is also recommended for small children. The urethane coating on the tableware causes almost no color degradation, and it can be washed in the same way as other tableware with a mild detergent, so there is no need to take special care of the tableware.
*About dents and uneven grain
Wooden pieces that arrive in white wood are firstremoved if they have strong dents or if the wood grain is not very beautiful.When we finish inspecting the wood, about half of it will be removed. If we were to inspect the wood more strictly thannow, it would be difficult to deliver the wood at the current price.We hope you will enjoy the slight dents and color irregularities as the character of natural wood.The Sou series is lighter in color and the grain of the wood can be clearly seen.

Soumei Lacquerware has been operating as a lacquerware store since 1923 in Kawada-cho, Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, an Echizen lacquerware production area with a history of about 1500 years.We are the first lacquerware store in the industry to adopt plastic and to take on other new challenges.

An event held in the Tannan area of Fukui Prefecture (Sabae City, Echizen City, Echizen Town) to open up the workshop with the aim of creating a sustainable community, which received the Good Design Award in 2019.
