MONPE" is a project to transform the "monpe", which was popular as farm work clothes, to fit the modern age while maintaining the comfort and workability of the monpe.
The "modern-style MONPE" developed by Eel's Bed is slimmer around the hips and below the knees. This " Farmer's MONPE " has a looser silhouette, closer to the old-fashioned MONPE. It is the best relaxing wear that lets you know the history and at the same time can be worn without feeling tight.

Corduroy production area: Enshu, Shizuoka
Soft and fluffy, smooth to the touch
MONPE is made in collaboration with Fukuda Orimono of Enshu, Shizuoka, Japan. This softness is created by repeatedly rubbing and washing with abundant water, a characteristic of the Enshu corduroy production process. Fukuda Orimono examines the density of the weave and the tension of the warp threads to take advantage of this texture. The softness of cotton is brought out to the maximum extent.
This is a 5-welt corduroy with thick ridges.
Farmers' MONPE Enshu Thick-webbed corduroy uses the same mold as regular Farmers' MONPE, but due to the nature of the fabric, it feels slightly larger.
Farmers' MONPE follows the old-fashioned monpe
This is a MONPE with a relaxed overall line that is similar to the shape of an old-fashioned MONPE. Compared to modern-style MONPE, it has a wider silhouette around the hips and from the knees to the calves. It is recommended for those who want to wear it loosely, for those who use it for work or exercise, and for those who are concerned about the narrowness below the knees of the modern-style MONPE.
