The cross pattern is a traditional Kurume kasuri pattern. Instead of placing it on the entire surface, it is used only on one side and combined with plain fabric to create a pop and cute, popular standard MONPE.

Japanese Jeans "MONPE
MONPE" was established after World War II as agricultural work clothes, and its shape was large around the hips and had a loose silhouette. Eel Bedding developed this product in response to requests from local people who wanted to make monpe using fabrics from antiques and kimono that they had left in their wardrobes. While saving cloth, the monpe was designed to be simple, taking advantage of its width of about 36 cm (kimono length), and as a result, a slim "monpe" was born with the functionality of a monpe intact. This is the standard MONPE of today.
