Beer cup / Odate bent-wood

Hot food stays hot, cold food stays cold, and the temperature of drinks is kept at a moderate level, so this cup is recommended not only for beer but also for shochu (Japanese liquor) with hot water.

The insulating property of the wood prevents ice from melting and condensation from forming, so the table does not get wet. Also, you can hold hot food in it without the surface getting hot.

The conical shape of the cups allows them to be stacked, so they take up little space for storage. Also good as a gift.

Odate Bent Wappa

Thinly shaved boards of Akita cedar are boiled in boiling water to soften them, then rolled into a cylindrical shape and the joints are glued together. The joints are glued together, and the bottom board is sewn with the bark of the mountain cherry tree to hold it in place.

Akita cedar, one of the three most beautiful forests in Japan, grows with tight annual rings and fine grain due to the harsh cold weather. The fine grain of the wood means less expansion and contraction, resulting in less distortion and superior durability. Akita cedar can be used for bentwood only when it is 200 to 300 years old.

The sixth generation, Shunji Kurimori, was the first in Akita Prefecture to win the Good Design Award for his "Kaku-bon" (square tray), and has since produced many other award-winning products. He is a traditional craftsman certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, a master craftsman of Akita, and a master craftsman of today.

In order to make his products easier to use in modern life, he developed tableware that can be molded into a mortar shape and stacked, based on the voices of people who were having trouble storing them. The modern shape of the bowls, which are made with the Japanese beauty of straight and beautiful vertical grain, is gaining popularity.
