BUNACO

Aomori Prefecture had an abundance of beech trees, as evidenced by the Shirakami Mountains, one of the largest virgin beech forests in the world.

Beech trees are so excellent in water retention that they are called "natural dams.
However, as a building material, it could not be made into usable timber because of its large amount of deviation, easy rotting, and difficulty in drying with conventional woodworking techniques.

BUNACO technology was invented in 1956 to make effective use of Aomori beech. This revolutionary technology solved the disadvantages of beech, which was difficult to process and prone to distortion, and also made it possible to use wood with fewer materials than the conventional machining method.

BUNACO's manufacturing method is unique in that beech wood is taped, rolled like a coil, and extruded to form the product. By changing the way the tape is wound and shifted, a wide variety of forms can be created.
This product is made possible by the flexibility of beech wood and the skill of skilled craftsmen.
